NEWS UPDATE
Dear Resident,
FITNESS EQUIPMENT IN OUR PARKS: In 2009, I began a campaign to have new Outdoor Exercise and Fitness Equipment in our parks. I am particularly delighted that this campaign was successful and that Outdoor Exercise and Fitness Equipment has now been installed in many of our parks, including Rathcoole. I have already spoken to some Rathcoole residents, young and older, who are pleased at the opportunity to improve their fitness levels. As a Qualified Sports and Fitness Instructor, I have seen this equipment being utilised when visiting Rathcoole Park and I know the benefits that it can bring to a community when people are walking in our parks and utilise this equipment for a short period. I am also available to give you some practical advice, assistance or fitness instruction if you so wish.
PROPOSED DUMP FOR RATHCOOLE: I have at all times remained vigilant on such planning issues that would have a detrimental effect on the residents of Rathcoole. That is why, as your TD, I continue to object to proposed developments such as a Dump as recently proposed and previously an Incinerator for Rathcoole. I will continue to work with local residents and the Rathcoole Community Council in the interest of the best Quality of Life for the Rathcoole Community.
EXTRA HELP FOR SPORTS LOVERS: I have worked with Rathcoole Boys Football Club and I am delighted to play my part in having a new staff member allocated through a local Partnership. I have since visited Rathcoole Boys Football Club and have seen first-hand how this new worker has been of such great benefit to all. I am delighted to have delivered this valuable new service for Rathcoole.
TIME TO SWITCH OVER: On Wednesday 24th October at 10am, right across Europe, the old system of transmitting television pictures will be cut off in compliance with the European directive and a new digital signal will be switched on.
I recently visited Rathcoole with the Minister for Communications, Pat Rabbitte, to discuss the benefits of the new signal with a large group of residents. For customers of a private service supplied by SKY or UPC, there will be no problem, but if you rely on an aerial for your TV signal, you will need to buy a set top box at a cost of about €60 in order to be able to receive the new and improved digital signal.
Finally for now, can I please remind you that I remain available to you and your family – “I am always just a Text, Phone Call or Email away.”
Kindest regards for now.
Yours sincerely,
