Eirgrid are at Stage 2 of the Public Consultation process in their planned upgrade of the Electricity Network in the Lucan-Clondalkin area at Grangecastle.

Local TD Derek Keating has expressed his concern that there is now uncertainty over the plan by Avoca Handweavers to open a retail store at the former Foxhunter site adjacent to Hermitage Park Estate. Having achieved all the necessary planning permission the construction phase was expected to have led to Avoca being open by March 2015.

A major step forward in the planned new Primary Care Centre for Lucan is happening this week with the lodgement of an application for planning permission with South Dublin County Council. The proposed Primary Care Centre for Lucan represents a €5m investment which will bring badly needed jobs to Lucan, both in the construction phase and when the Centre is up and running.

Previously I had assisted in securing the €20,000.00 Grant to assist with Aspen’s vital services and am glad to announce that they have been successful in receiving a further grant of €5,000.00 from the National Lottery Fund under the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.

The purpose of this initiative is to provide the people of Lucan with a multi-million euro Primary Care facility that will include a full range of medical services: GP, Nursing, Dental, Social Work, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Dietician, Psychology etc. – Lucan’s very own Mini Hospital.
